The Department of Occupational Therapy at MCPHS, offers a 5-year Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BOT) program, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Dhaka. The program blends classroom teaching, clinical placements, and community-based rehabilitation to prepare competent Occupational Therapists for Bangladesh and beyond

Occupational Therapy is an emerging profession with growing importance in enabling people to live meaningful, independent lives despite illness, injury, or disability. Internship (5th Professional Year)

After successful completion of the 4th year, students must complete a 12-month compulsory internship in affiliated hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community practice sites. This internship ensures extensive hands-on clinical experience across various specialties and prepares graduates for independent professional practice

  • Minimum 50% pass marks required in each subject and method

  • 80% class attendance required to sit for university examinations

Graduates of the BOT program will be able to:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage individuals with physical, neurological, developmental, and psychosocial challenges

  • Plan and implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams

  • Promote community health and preventive care

  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical practice, and lifelong learning in the field of Occupational Therapy

Admission Information

The admission process at Mymensingh College of Physiotherapy & Health Sciences (MCPHS) is designed to select academically qualified and medically fit students for the Occupational Therapy (BOT) program. Candidates must meet specific academic requirements, pass an admission test, and undergo a medical examination to ensure readiness for both academic learning and clinical training.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have passed SSC & HSC (Science) or equivalent with Biology, Physics & Chemistry

  • Minimum GPA 7.0 combined in SSC & HSC

  • At least GPA 3 in each subject separately

  • Admission test and medical examination are mandatory

  • Admission circulars are published on the MCPHS website, notice boards, and newspapers

Admission Process

  1. Application Submission – Complete and submit the admission form as instructed
  2. Admission Test – Written examination held on the MCPHS campus
  3. Medical Examination – Conducted by the medical board for fitness clearance
  4. Final Selection – Based on merit list and health clearance
